51 13 400 Removing and installing/replacing rear centre trim (up to 03/2005): Notes

Necessary preliminary tasks:

If necessary, remove number/license plate
Remove trim for rear lid at bottom, refer to 51 49 005 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING TRIM FOR LOWER REAR LID
Remove rear light from centre of rear lid, refer to 63 21 186 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REAR LIGHT (ON CENTRE OF REAR LID)

NOTE: Detaching rear centre trim is shown on the left side; proceed in same way for detaching on the right side.

Disconnect plug connection (1).

Unscrew nuts (2).

Tightening torque 51 13 6AZ. Refer to BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Lever out catches (1)

Remove complete rear centre trim (2) in direction of arrow.

Installation:

Make sure two-part seal (1) is correctly seated.

If necessary, replace faulty clips (2).
