65 50 631 Replacing Control Unit For Rear Compartment Monitor

Necessary Preliminary Tasks:

Remove rear compartment fresh air grill. Refer to 64 22 190 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REAR COMPARTMENT FRESH AIR GRILL (AUTOMATIC A/C BASIC) and 64 22 191 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REAR COMPARTMENT FRESH-AIR GRILLE (AUTOMATIC A/C HIGH) .
Remove side panels on center console. Refer to 51 16 ... REMOVING AND INSTALLING SIDE PANELS ON CENTER CONSOLE .

CAUTION: The fully installed rear compartment monitor can only be swiveled up and down with the ignition turned on. Then turn off ignition again immediately.

Swiveling rear compartment monitor up/down without ignition voltage, refer to Removing rear compartment monitor. Refer to 65 50 120 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REAR COMPARTMENT MONITOR .

NOTE: Follow instructions for handling optical fibers. Refer to 61 00 ... NOTES ON HANDLING OPTICAL FIBERS .

Fold up rear compartment monitor (1).

Release screws (2) and remove trim in center console at rear (3) in direction of arrow.

Release screws (1).

Installation:

Do not mix up plug connections (3) and (4).

Unlock plug connections (2), (3) and (4) and disconnect.

Feed out control unit for rear compartment monitor (5) in direction of arrow and set down.

Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.

Remove control unit for rear compartment monitor (2).

Replacement:

Carry out coding/programming. Refer to DIAGNOSIS PROGRAMMING/CODING .

Observe following IDC specifications:

Programming.
Coding.
Car & Key Memory.
CD "CIP".
