61 61 085 Removing And Installing/Replacing Right Windscreen Wiper Arm (Passenger Side)

Special Tools Required: 

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage!

Both windscreen wiper arms are secured with significantly different torques.

Move windscreen wipers into rest position ("installation position").

Removal: 

NOTE: Engine hood/bonnet shown removed for purposes of clarity.

Unclip cover caps (1) and (2) and remove.

Version A (water jet hose connected): 

Disconnect plug connection (1).

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage!

At low outside temperatures, carefully heat water jet hose (2) in area of distributor with hot air blower.

Turn water jet hose (2) and pull off in direction of arrow.

Unscrew nuts (3).

Version B (quick-release coupling): 

NOTE: Windscreen wiper arm shown removed for purposes of clarity.

For releasing, push slide (2) of quick-release coupling forwards until it snaps audibly into place.

Pull off hose (1).

Disconnect associated plug connection and release nuts.

NOTE: Operation is shown by way of example on the left windscreen wiper arm.

Installation: 

IMPORTANT: Risk of breakage!

Do not bend wiper arm when removing it (risk of breakage).

Detach windscreen wiper arm with special tool 61 6 060.

NOTE: Installation of windscreen wiper arm is described separately from removal.

Replacement: 

Installation: 

Checking seating of mounting element (1) in windscreen wiper arm.

A tightly fit mounting element (1) in wiper arm can be reused.

A loose mounting element (1) must be replaced.

Attach windscreen wiper arm to shafts of wiper mounting bracket.

Fit mounting disk (1).

Partially screw nuts onto shafts of wiper mounting bracket, but do not screw down fully yet.

IMPORTANT: Danger of loosening!

Observe tightening specifications without fail.

Position windscreen wiper blade via marking (1) on windscreen and hold wiper arm in this position.

Tighten nut (2), refer to 61 61 16AZ in GENERAL ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Tighten nut (3), refer to 61 61 13AZ in GENERAL ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Observe settling time (15 minutes).

Rebend nut (3), refer to 61 61 13AZ in GENERAL ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Version A (water jet hose connected): 

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage!

At low outside temperatures, carefully heat water jet hose (2) in area of distributor with hot air blower.

Turn water jet hose (2) and attach in direction of arrow.

Close plug connection (1).

Version B (quick-release coupling): 

NOTE: Windscreen wiper arm shown removed for purposes of clarity.

Check sealing ring on distributor for damage, replace if necessary.

Coat sealing ring with anti-friction agent.

Push water jet hose (1) in direction of arrow onto distributor.

Make sure water jet hose (1) and slide (2) are correctly seated and engaged on distributor.

Close associated plug connection.

Clip cover caps onto nuts (2) and (3).

Make sure cover caps are correctly engaged.

Perform one-touch wiping twice.

Check adjustment dimension  between windscreen wiper blade (1) and cowl panel trim and adjust if necessary.

Check contact angle  of windscreen wiper arm to windscreen and adjust if necessary.
