51 24 065 Removing And Installing/Replacing Bowden Cable For Manual Rear Lid Unlocking (Up To 03/2005)

Necessary Preliminary Tasks:

Remove rear light. Refer to 63 21 186 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REAR LIGHT (ON CENTER OF REAR LID) .
Remove panel for rear lid at bottom. Refer to 51 49 005 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING TRIM FOR LOWER REAR LID .

Detach cover (1) from lock element (2).

NOTE: Illustration shows version without manual rear lid unlocking. See Fig 1.

Lever out securing plugs (1).

Lever out catches (2) and remove Bowden cable guide (3).

Unlock catch (1) and detach Bowden cables (2 and 3) from rear lid lock upper section (5).

Lever Bowden cable (2) out of guide (4).

Installation:

Bowden cable (2) must be correctly positioned in guide (4).

Release screw (1).

Feed out Bowden cable with holder (2) from rear lid.

Installation:

Retainer (5) must be correctly fitted.

Bowden cable (3) and retainer (5) must be correctly fitted on lock element (4).
