51 21 036 Replacing Function Carrier On Left Or Right Front Door

Overview Of Function Carrier Components:

Control unit, door (door module).
Light module (build date up to 09/2004).
Sensor.
Bowden cable.
Speaker.
Door wiring harness.
Quick-release coupling grey 1.8 mm.
Quick-release coupling white 0.8 mm.

Necessary Preliminary Tasks:

Remove front function carrier. Refer to 51 21 035 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FUNCTION CARRIER ON LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT DOOR .
Remove control unit. Refer to 61 35 220 REMOVING AND INSTALLING (REPLACING) CONTROL UNIT FOR LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT DOOR .
Remove sensor. Refer to 65 77 740 REMOVING AND INSTALLING (REPLACING) LEFT FRONT DOOR SENSOR .
Remove speaker. Refer to 65 13 070 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING SPEAKER (MID-RANGE SPEAKER, DOOR AT FRONT) .
Remove wiring harness. Refer to 61 12 180 REPLACING WIRING HARNESS ON FUNCTION CARRIER ON LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT DOOR .

Build date up to 09/2004:

Remove light module. Refer to 63 99 486 REPLACING LIGHT MODULE FOR FRONT LEFT OR RIGHT OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE LIGHTING (UP TO 09/2004) .

Release clip.

Remove Bowden cable.

Remove sensor seal.

Installation:

Insert pin (1) in outer bore.

Press out quick-release couplings.

Installation:

Make sure quick-release couplings are installed in correct position.
