12 41 020 Removing And Installing/Replacing Starter Motor (N73)

Necessary Preliminary Tasks:

Follow instructions for disconnecting and connecting battery. Refer to 12 00 ... INSTRUCTIONS FOR DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY .
Remove right exhaust manifold. Refer to 18 40 020 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING RIGHT EXHAUST MANIFOLD (N73) .
Disconnect battery negative lead and cover.

Unfasten screws.

Remove heat shield (1).

Unscrew nuts.

Tightening torque, refer to 12 41 4AZ in ENGINE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Remove lines (1).

Release screws and pull release out of transmission mounting and remove.

Tightening torque, refer to 12 41 1AZ in ENGINE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Assemble engine.

Installation:

Check starter pinion and ring gear for damage, replace damaged parts if necessary.
