12 14 550 Replacing control unit (M54 / S54)

Follow instructions for removing and installing electronic control units. Refer to 12 00 ... WORKING INSTRUCTIONS FOR REMOVING AND INSTALLING ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT .

Read fault memory.

Turn off ignition.

Before replacing the control unit, you must comply with the following instructions:

Code control unit. Refer to 12 14 700 CODING CONTROL MODULE (DME / DDE) .
Program control unit. Refer to 12 14 705 PROGRAMMING CONTROL UNIT (DME / DDE) .

Release screw connection of electronics box (1).

Remove electronics box (1).

Installation:

Unlock plug (1) and detach from DME control unit.

Remove DME control unit.

NOTE: Interrogate fault memory of DME control unit. Check stored fault messages. Rectify faults. Then clear fault memory.
