63 12 017 Removing and installing/replacing right headlight (adaptive headlight)

WARNING: Version with xenon headlights: Danger to life due to high voltage! Therefore, before removing, disconnect all components from the voltage supply (lighting system and ignition off).
Work on the entire xenon lighting system (control unit, ignition unit with bulb) may only be carried out by qualified personnel.
Follow instructions for handling light bulbs (EXTERIOR LIGHTS) .

Necessary preliminary tasks

Remove FRONT SECTION OF FRONT WHEEL ARCH COVER .
Remove FRONT BUMPER TRIM .

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage
Carry out the following operations with care so as to avoid damaging the side panel, headlight, wiring harness and washer fluid reservoir for window washer system.

Release nuts (2) from relay (1).

Release nuts (3) from relay (4).

Remove relay holder (4).

Release screw (1) from front side panel.

Release screw (2) from headlight.

Tightening torque 63 12 2AZ .

Disconnect plug connection (3).

Unclip wiring harness (4).

Release screws (1). Tightening torque 63 12 1AZ .

Carefully pull headlight back slightly in direction of arrow.

NOTE: An assistant is needed for this operation.

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage
Fully mask off front side panel in marked area (A) and headlight lens

Release nuts (3) from diagonal strut (4).

Release screws (2) from front side panel.

Carefully lift side wall upward/outward with the help of an assistant and hold it there.

Carefully feed out headlight (1) in direction of arrow.

Installation note:

The side wall must be fastened before adjusting the headlight
Adjust headlight in accordance with 41 00... BODY GAP DIMENSIONS by means of adjusting elements (1) to body.
Adjust HEADLIGHT .

Replacement:

Remove IGNITION UNIT/BULB FOR XENON HEADLIGHT .
Remove CONTROL UNIT FOR XENON HEADLIGHTS .
Remove DRIVE MOTOR FOR ADAPTIVE HEADLIGHT .
If necessary, remove bulbs . See 63 99 076 REPLACING BULB FOR LEFT (OR RIGHT) XENON HEADLIGHT (WITH IGNITION UNIT) , 63 99 273 REPLACING BULB FOR FRONT LEFT (OR RIGHT) TURN INDICATOR or 63 99 145 REPLACING BULB FOR LEFT (OR RIGHT) SIDE LIGHTS (XENON HEADLIGHT) .
