52 14 050 Replacing lumbar support on front left or right seat

Special tools required: 

Necessary preliminary tasks

Detach backrest cover (1) at bottom from backrest frame.

Remove valve body  . See 52 14 060 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING VALVE HOUSING FOR LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT LUMBAR SUPPORT (NORMAL/ELECTRIC) , 52 17 060 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING VALVE HOUSING FOR LUMBAR CUSHION (COMFORT)  or 52 13 060 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING VALVE HOUSING FOR LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT LUMBAR SUPPORT (NORMAL/SEMI-ELECTRIC) .

Disconnect air hoses (2) from valve body.

NOTE: Heat air hoses gently if they are firmly seated on valve body.
Housing of valve block must not be unclipped (leakage). If necessary, release mount and clip housing together.
If necessary, cut all clamps on lumbar support (3) and spring wire.
NOTE: Remove all remnants of clamps. Bend new clamps to shape with special tool 52 0 050 .
Detach lumbar support (3) from spring wire.
Remove lumbar support (3) downwards between backrest frame and seat mechanism.

Installation note:

Make sure air hoses are correctly connected to valve block (colour coding).

Air hoses must be laid without kinks.

Check lumbar support for damage.
