51 36 071 Replacing rear left or right side window: Notes

IMPORTANT: Instructions for window cementing are an essential part of these repair instructions and must be followed without fail, see 51 31... Instructions on gluing windscreen .
Cover rear side panels with protective covers.
The side window can be reused only if the PVC spraycoating is undamaged.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove capping in luggage compartment, see 51 47 157 Removing and installing/replacing cover for left or right capping in luggage compartment .
Remove panel for roof pillar at rear (D-pillar), see 51 43 251 Removing and installing or replacing trim panel for left or right rear roof pillar (C-pillar) .
Remove panel for roof pillar (C-pillar), see 51 43 251 Removing and installing or replacing trim panel for left or right rear roof pillar (C-pillar) .
Release belt, see 72 11 092 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REAR LEFT OR RIGHT SEAT BELT .
Remove strip on side window, see 51 36 056 Removing and installing/replacing trim strip on side window on rear left or right .

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage!

Tape off body in area of piercing point with fabric adhesive tape.

Moisten PVC spray-coating with water so that cutting wire can slide between body and side window and PVC spraycoating is not damaged.

Push wire starter from Roll Out 2000 at line (1) through adhesive bead, see 51 31... REMOVING WINDSCREEN WITH "ROLL OUT 2000" .

Feed in cutting wire, secure special tool 51 3 270 and cut through adhesive bead in direction of arrow.

Remove side window and replace.
