63 31 170 Removing And Installing/Replacing Door Handle Light On Left Or Right Front Door

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove sound insulation from front door . Refer to 51 48 060 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING SOUND INSULATION IN LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT DOOR
Remove cover on outside handle . Refer to 51 21 180 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING COVER ON OUTSIDE HANDLE .

NOTE: Work is shown on the E81 by way of example. There may be differences in detail in the case of other vehicle models.

NOTE: Inner door panel partially shown transparent.

Disconnect plug connection (1).

Release all attachment points of wiring harness (2).

Raise door handle light (4) slightly and remove in outward direction from carrier for outside door handle (3).

Installation:

Make sure door handle light (1) is correctly positioned in area (2).

Guides (3) of door handle light (1) must be seated in carrier for outside door handle (4).

Installation:

Wiring harness holders (2) of wiring harness (1) must not be damaged or missing.

Replacement:

If necessary, undo loop (3) to obtain the required cable length.
