54 34 348 Removing And Installing/Replacing Left Or Right Rear Roof Frame Seal Rail

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove rear roof frame seal . Refer to 54 34 347 Removing And Installing/Replacing Rear Roof Frame Seal .

WARNING:

Soft top becomes pressureless without a warning signal.

For all work, secure soft top with a suitable support tool against collapsing.

Ensure Convertible top is supported in the middle.

Ignition must remain switched off during the repair work.

Failure to comply with this instruction may result in the hydraulic valves incurring preliminary damage.

Operation only when removing right roof frame:

Unclip cable tie (1) from roof frame.

Installation:

If necessary, replace cable tie.

IMPORTANT:

Before releasing nuts, make a note of the number of spacer plates at the respective screw fastening point.

Soft top is taught in at the factory.

Release combination nuts (1).

Carefully remove rear roof frame with spacer plates.

Convertible top fabric welt is secured three times in roof frame with retainers.

Lever Convertible top fabric welt out of roof frame.

Installation:

If necessary, replace defective clips.

Installation:

Roof frame with window guide must be flush with middle window guide.

Adjust roof frame by means of spacers (refer to BMW Parts Service).

Side windows must run into seal correctly and rest in window guide over entire width.

Check function.

Check adjustment of side window and adjust if necessary. Refer to 51 37 154 ADJUSTING REAR LEFT OR RIGHT SIDE WINDOW .
