41 14 502 Replacing Rear Left Outer Wheel Arch Section (Rear Left Side Panel Removed)

Spot-weld bonding is used on this vehicle. Observe specific procedure . Refer to 41 00... Opening Adhesive Bonds and/or 41 00... Spot-Weld Bonding Steel Parts .

Remove or cover those vehicle components in the repair area which are susceptible to heat or dust.

Use only approved spot-welding apparatus for repairs! Refer to 41 00... Workshop Equipment .

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove inner B-pillar reinforcement . Refer to 41 21 920 Replacing Left Inner B-Pillar Reinforcement (Side Panel Removed) .

Following new body parts are required:

(1) Wheel arch, outer

Open weld joints in area (1).

Mark severance cut (1) at gap a to radius and cut.

Measurement a = approx. 15 mm.

Mark severance cut (2) as pictured and cut.

Remove outer section of wheel arch.

Preparation of new part:

Mark severance cuts (1) in radius and cut.

Mark severance cut (2) according to vehicle + 15 mm additional material and cut.

Installation:

Attach new component from below and weld.
Adjust new part in conjunction with side panel to fit.

Adjust new part to fit in area (1) between wheel arch closing plate (2) and flange (3).
