18 12 045 Removing And Installing/Replacing Center Muffler (N54)

WARNING: Scalding hazard!
Only perform these tasks after exhaust system has cooled down.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove trailing link. See 51 71 482 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT OR RIGHT TENSION STRUT (ON REAR AXLE) (E88) or 33 32 165 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING TENSION STRUT (E82) .

Unscrew nuts.

Installation note: Replace self-locking nuts. Replace gasket. Tightening torque 18 31 1AZ .

Release screw (1) and remove holder. Tightening torque 18 20 1AZ .

Release screws. Tightening torque 18 20 1AZ . Replace gasket. Lower and remove the centre silencer.

NOTE: Check rubber mount and replace if damaged. Check exhaust system for leaks. Reassemble the vehicle.
