61 31 195 Removing And Installing (Replacing) Front Controller (Until 9/08)

Special Tools Required 

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

IMPORTANT:

Risk of damage!

Install knob for controller only when controller is installed.

Lever gaiter (1) out of center console with special tool 00 9 317  and slide upwards.

Press cable retaining plate (1) downwards to gain access to controller from below.

IMPORTANT:

Sharp edges on center console and on cable ties may cause injury.

Carry out this operation with care.

Insert hand between cable retaining plate (3) and center console (2).

Press controller (1) upwards out of catch.

Disconnect associated plug connection and remove controller (1).

Release screws (1) and remove controller (2) from trim (3).

Installation: 

Retainers (1) of controller (2) must not be damaged or missing.

Replacement: 

Carry out vehicle programming/coding.
