65 77 632 Replacing Both Sensor Mats For Rear Seat Occupancy Detector

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 BMW Alpina and 2007 BMW Alpina. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove control units (1) on left and right.

Remove sensor mats (2).

IMPORTANT: To avoid malfunctions, make sure sensor mat (2) is cleanly laid:
  • Lay plug connections in designated recesses.
  • Lay sensor mats (2) straight and without kinks (large bending radii).
  • If necessary, secure sensor mats (2) with adhesive tape provided.
  • Feed sensor mats (2) in areas of transition (e.g. seat cushion to side section) cleanly into penetrations of padding.
