51 31 241 Replacing Rubber Frame (Top) For Rear Window

Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove both trim strips from roof frame . See 51 13 280 REMOVING AND INSTALLING TRIM STRIP ON ROOF FRAME AT LEFT OR RIGHT .
CAUTION:
Rubber frame (1) has an aluminum section insert (2).
Carefully unwind rubber frame (1) (rear window breakage).
Carefully unwind rubber frame (1) (rear window breakage).
NOTE:
Tear-off lip (5) can be bonded to adhesive (4).
When rubber frame (1) is removed, tear-off lip (5) may tear off and remain in vehicle.

Installation:
There is no tear-off lip (3) in area (A) on left/right.
Replacement of rubber frame without rear window removal:
Detach tear-off lip (3) from rubber frame (1).
If adhesive above tear-off lip (3) has managed to get onto bridge, this area must be cut out partially.
To facilitate installation, moisten rubber frame (1) and body cutout with water.
Replacement of rubber frame with removed or new rear window:
Fit rubber frame (1) with tear-off lip (3).
