51 24 660 Correcting Fluid Level In Hydraulic Unit (From 02/2003) For Rear Lid Actuation (ELECTROHYDRAULIC-Fully Automatic)

IMPORTANT: Do not under any circumstance remove fluid tank from hydraulic unit.
Use fluid from "Small parts for hydraulic unit" set.

Follow notes and instructions  for automatic rear lid actuation (electrohydraulic-fully automatic). See 51 24 ... NOTES AND INSTRUCTIONS ON AUTOMATIC REAR LID ACTUATION (FROM 02/2003) (ELECTROHYDRAULIC-FULLY AUTOMATIC) .

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

NOTE: Hoses on hydraulic unit must not be detached.

Have a cleaning cloth and an oil drip tray ready to catch emerging fluid.

Move hydraulic unit (1) into vertical position.

Release screw (2).

Tightening torque 51 24 2AZ.  See BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES -- ALPINA .

Top up hydraulic fluid through opening.

Installation: 

Replace sealing ring.

Check fluid level  . See 51 24 660 CORRECTING FLUID LEVEL IN HYDRAULIC UNIT FOR REAR LID ACTUATION (ELECTROHYDRAULIC-FULLY AUTOMATIC) .

When ideal filling is achieved: 

Install hydraulic unit.

Close rear lid (motor-driven) twice and open again, this bleeds the system.

When rear lid is fully opened (cylinder retracted), fluid level (2) must be in area (A) of marking (3).
