51 11 050 Removing And Installing / Replacing Carrier For Front Bumper Trim

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove front bumper trim  . See 51 11 156 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT BUMPER TRIM .

Build date from 03/2005: 

• Remove both lower brackets for headlight mounting.

Not build date from 03/2005: 

Release screw (1).

Remove upper air duct section (2) on left/right.

Remove impact absorber (2) towards front.

Release screws (1) and remove bracket/rod.

Disconnect plug connection on fanfare horn on left/right

If necessary, disconnect plug connection on ACC sensor and night vision camera.

Replacement: 

Release screw (3) on left/right and remove fanfare horn.

Release catches (1).

Remove cover (2) on left/right.

Version with headlight washer system: 

Detach water hose (1) from high-pressure nozzle on right and seal off with rubber plug.

Feed water hose (1) out of carrier.

Version with night vision: 

Detach water hose (2) from night vision camera and seal off with rubber plug.

Feed out water hose (2).

If necessary, detach high-pressure nozzle of headlight washer system from carrier and unclip wiring harness (1) from carrier. See 61 67 083 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT OR RIGHT HIGH-PRESSURE NOZZLE OF HEADLIGHT WASHER SYSTEM (FROM 03/2005) .

Release screws (1 and 2) on left/right.

Remove carrier towards front.

Tightening torque. See 11 FRONT BUMPER .

Replacement (depending on Security version): 

• Remove bracket for ACC sensor
• Remove vibration damper.
• Remove night vision camera  . See 66 54 010 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COMPLETE NIGHT VISION CAMERA .
• Remove both acceleration sensors  . See 65 77 541 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FRONT LEFT OR RIGHT ACCELERATION SENSOR .
