12 42 540 Replacing Safety Battery Terminal (SBK)

CAUTION: Comply with safety regulations!
Investigate cause of safety battery terminal being triggered.
To do so, read fault memory of airbag control unit. Note down fault messages stored in memory. Rectify faults. Now clear the fault memory.

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

NOTE: The safety battery terminal is replaced with the cable up to the battery positive terminal in the luggage compartment and up to the power module.

Release battery positive terminal (1).

Release nut at terminal (2).

Unlock and detach plug connection (3).

Unlock positive lead (4) at power module and detach.

Remove safety battery terminal (5) with positive lead.

Installation: 

Check routing of cables.

Installation: 

If necessary, replace faulty fuses.
