12 41 020 Removing And Installing/Replacing Starter Motor (N62)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Disconnect battery ground terminal. See 12 00 ... INSTRUCTIONS FOR DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY .
Remove right exhaust manifold. See 18 00 020 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COMPLETE EXHAUST SYSTEM (N62) .

Release screws and nut on heat shield (1).

Remove heat shield (1).

Installation:

Tightening torque. See ENGINE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Disconnect plug connection (1) term.50.

Unscrew nut (2).

Installation:

Tightening torque. See ENGINE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Remove starter cable (3) term.30.

Release screws on transmission. See Fig 3.

Installation:

Tightening torque. See ENGINE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Assemble vehicle.
