18 00 020 Removing And Installing Complete Exhaust System (N62)

Special tools required: 

WARNING: Scalding hazard!
Only perform this work after engine has cooled down.

Support exhaust system with special tool 31 2 220  .

NOTE: Weight of exhaust system is approx. 40 kg.

Release nuts of flanges on both exhaust manifolds with integrated catalytic converter.

Installation: 

Replace self-locking nuts.

Tightening torque, 18 30 3AZ  .

Release nuts.

Release nuts.

Remove reinforcement plate.

WARNING: Danger of injury!
Removal of exhaust system must be carried out with assistance of a second person.
NOTE: Weight of exhaust system is approx. 40 kg.

Release nut.

Detach rubber element from holder.

Release nut.

Remove holder of rear muffler.

Release nut.

Remove holder on tailpipe.

Detach hose from vacuum unit.

Carefully lower exhaust system.
