Parking Brake Shoes

NOTE: Accurate adjustment of the parking brake is only possible if Bowden cables and all moving parts move easily and function correctly. See PARKING BRAKE BOWDEN CABLE SETTING PROCEDURE .

NOTE: Numbers in text refer to numbers in figures.

Unclip parking brake lever trim (1) at rear and tilt forward. Lock adjuster unit (ASZE). Using Special Tool (32 10 30), press stop (2) of adjusting spring back to such an extent that retaining hook (3) engages in stop (2). See Fig 1 .
Raise vehicle and support safely. Completely unscrew one wheel stud on each rear wheel. Turn wheel until adjustment screw is visible in tapped hole. See Fig 2 .
Turn adjusting screw with a screwdriver until the wheel is no longer able to turn. See Fig 3 . Then unfasten the adjusting screw 8 notches. Unlock adjuster unit (ASZE). Lever restraint hook (2) outward with a screwdriver (1). Restraint hook (2) must disengage from stop of adjusting spring. See Fig 4 .
