Parking Brake Bowden Cable Setting Procedure

NOTE: Parking brake lever must be applied 5 times to about 295 lbs. (400 N) actuating force.
  1. Using brake analyzer, with parking brake released, shift transmission into neutral. Without locking differential 110 lbs. (150 N) or less. With locking differential 148 lbs. (200 N) or less (possibly odd display).
  2. With parking brake on first tooth, there is no increase in braking force. Indicator light may be lit.
  3. With parking brake on second tooth, an increase in braking force must take place. Indicator light must be lit.
  4. With parking brake on third tooth, an increase in braking force must take place.
  5. With parking brake on fifth tooth, braking force display must have reached 295 lbs. (400 N) or more.
