Special tools required:

• 11 3 454. See 11 3 450 COMPRESSED AIR CONNECTION
• 11 3 460. See 11 3 460 PROTRACTOR
• 11 9 451. See 11 9 450 COUNTER HOLDER WITH SOCKET AND POINTER
• 11 9 452. See 11 9 450 COUNTER HOLDER WITH SOCKET AND POINTER
• 11 9 453. See 11 9 450 COUNTER HOLDER WITH SOCKET AND POINTER
• 11 9 455. See 11 9 450 COUNTER HOLDER WITH SOCKET AND POINTER

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove fan clutch. See 11 52 020 Removing and Installing Or Replacing Fan Clutch (N73) 
• Remove alternator drive belt. See 11 28 010 Replacing Alternator Drive Belt (N73) 
• Remove A/C compressor drive belt. See 11 28 050 Replacing A/C Compressor Drive Belt (N73) 
• Remove engine splash guard.
• Remove vibration damper. See 11 23 010 Removing and Installing/Replacing Vibration Damper (N73) 
• Remove tensioner from A/C compressor drive belt.

Secure special tool 11 9 451 in conjunction with special tool 11 9 452 (also a spacer 11 9 455 for N73 only) to vibration damper hub and to oil sump (A/C compressor tensioner). See 11 9 450 COUNTER HOLDER WITH SOCKET AND POINTER

Installation: 

Check vibration damper hub and radial seal, replace if necessary.

Align groove in vibration damper hub to parallel key and install vibration damper hub.

Replace central screw (1).

Fit special tool 11 3 460 on special tool 11 9 451. . See11 9 450 COUNTER HOLDER WITH SOCKET AND POINTER

Special tool 11 3 460 is magnetic. See 11 3 460 PROTRACTOR

Secure special tool 11 9 453 with clamping screw on special tool 11 3 454 (socket). . See11 9 450 COUNTER HOLDER WITH SOCKET AND POINTER

Adjust 0° position.

Tightening torque 11 23 2AZ. See 11 23 VIBRATION DAMPER

Assemble engine.
