52 17 054 Removing And Installing/Replacing Adjusting Unit (Active) For Seat Back Width Adjuster On Left Or Right Front Seat (M5)

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

NOTE:

The right side is removed in the same way as the left side.

IMPORTANT:

Draw off chips during drilling operation.

Also cover rotary adjuster. Risk of lock blockage due to chips entering system.

Drill out rivets (1).

Carefully feed adjusting unit (2) out of backrest frame.

NOTE:

Remove all remnants of rivets.

Unlock plug connections (1) and disconnect.

NOTE:

Carry out function check while removed with special tool 61 2 070 only.

Installation: 

Carry out initialization while BMW diagnosis system is installed.

Alternatively the initialization can also be carried out manually.
