51 11 157 Replacing front bumper trim

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove front BUMPER TRIM

Remove cover cap (1) for tow lug.

Remove HEADLIGHT WASHER UNIT COVER (2)  on left/right.

Remove FRONT RADIATOR GRILLE (3)  on left/right.

Remove FRONT FOG LAMPS (4) on left/right. (not M5).

If necessary, remove LICENSE PLATE (5) .

If necessary, remove BASEPLATE FOR LICENSE PLATE .

Installation: 

Marker lines are located on inside of bumper for version with M and M5 aerodynamic kits. These lines denote the drilling position for the license plate baseplate.

If necessary, remove wiring harness and PDC ULTRASONIC SENSOR (6) .

Remove damping lip/spoiler (7).

Build date from 03/2007: 

Remove all grilles. See REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING TRIM FOR AIR DUCT ON BUMPER TRIM (FROM 03/2007)  and REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING TRIM GRILLE IN BUMPER TRIM (FROM 03/2007) 

Version with M aerodynamic kit: 

Remove FRONT FOG LAMP TRIM .

Remove GRILLE IN BUMPER TRIM .

M5 only: 

Remove GRILLE  in bumper trim.
