61 31 068 Removing and installing/replacing switch for passenger airbag deactivation
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove right fresh-air grille (See 64 22 135 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT FRESH-AIR GRILL
- Disconnect battery negative lead (See 61 20 900 DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY NEGATIVE LEAD )
WARNING:
Read and comply with safety regulations for handling airbag modules and pyrotechnical belt tensioners. (See 72 00 ... SAFETY REGULATIONS FOR HANDLING COMPONENTS WITH GAS GENERATORS )
Incorrect handling can activate airbag and cause in jury.
Disconnect plug connection (1).
Press catches (4) and remove switch for front passenger airbag deactivation (2) in direction of arrow out of instrument panel trim (3).
Installation:
Make sure switch for front passenger airbag deactivation (2) is in correct installation position (plug connection (1) at top).
Replacement:
Replace lock cylinder. (See 51 16 342 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LOCK CYLINDER FOR PASSENGER AIRBAG DEACTIVATION )
