51 32 170 Removing and installing/replacing door window glass, front left or right
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove window cavity cover strip (See 51 21 310 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING WINDOW CAVITY COVER STRIP ON FRONT DOOR )
- Remove sound insulation (See 51 48 ... REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING SOUND INSULATION IN FRONT DOOR, LEFT OR RIGHT )
Door window glass (1) must be opened to dimension (A).
A = approx. 110 mm
Installation:
Carry out function check on power window unit and anti-trapping protection.
If necessary, initialize power window. (See 67 62 ... NOTES ON INITIALIZING POWER WINDOW UNIT (FROM 04/2004) )
Release screw (1) through bore on inner door panel (2).
Installation:
Insert door window glass (3) with clamping plate (4) in mounting (5).
Tightening torque 51 32 2AZ. (See BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES article)
Slide locking clip (1) to one side.
Grip door window glass (4) and detach mounting (3) from power window (2).
Turn door window glass (4) and lift out.
Installation:
Adjust door window glass. (See 51 32 154 ADJUSTING LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT DOOR WINDOW GLASS )
Installation:
Sliding block (1) must be correctly positioned in mounting (2).
Clamping plate (4) must be correctly engaged with slider (3) on door window glass (5).
Replacement:
Lever out catch (2) from shim (4) and remove with clamping plate (3) from door window glass (1).
When replacing clamping plate or slider:
Lever out catches (5) and remove clamping plate (3) from slider (4).
