51 16 200 Removing and installing/replacing storage compartment
Special tools required:
- 00 9 318
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove panel for rear storage box (See 51 16 235 REMOVING AND INSTALLING PANEL FOR REAR STORAGE BOX )
- Remove hand brake lever cover (See 51 16 ... REPLACING FINISHER ON LEFT INSTRUMENT PANEL TRIM )
- Remove trim for preselector lever (gear lever) (See 51 16 210 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING TRIM FOR PRESELECTOR LEVER (GEARSHIFT LEVER) )
- Remove switch unit in center console (See 61 31 057 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING SWITCH UNIT IN CENTER CONSOLE )
Lever out trim (1) with special tool 00 9 318 on both sides. (See BODY EQUIPMENT - SPECIAL TOOLS article)
Release cap (2) on left/right.
Slide cover (3) in direction of arrow and remove.
Installation:
Following parts of cover (3) must not be damaged or missing:
- Retaining lugs
- Guides
Release screws (1) on left/right.
Raise storage compartment (3) and disconnect all remaining plug connections.
Lift storage compartment (3) at rear and at same time pull towards rear and feed out from hand brake lever.
Installation:
Clips (2) must not be missing or damaged.
Installation:
Retaining lugs (2 and 4) of trim (1) and of cap (3) must not be damaged or missing.
Replacement:
- Remove trim for storage compartment (See 51 16 212 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING TRIM FOR STORAGE COMPARTMENT )
