32 41 037 Removing and installing power steering pump for power steering gear with Dynamic Drive (M54)
IMPORTANT:
Adhere to the utmost cleanliness. Do not allow any dirt to enter the hydraulic system.
Seal off pipe connections with plugs.
After installation:
- Fill and bleed hydraulic system. See 32 13 006 Bleeding Power Steering Unit .
- Check pipe connections for leaks
- If necessary, carry out initial operation for Dynamic Drive. See INITIALIZING DYNAMIC DRIVE .
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Draw off and dispose off hydraulic fluid from fluid reservoir. Observe country-specific waste-disposal regulations.
- Remove fan cowl with electric fan. See 17 11 031 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FAN .
- Remove intake filter housing. See INTAKE SILENCER .
- Remove belt pulley. See 32 41 061 Replacing Power Steering Vane Pump .
- Remove front assembly underside protection. See 51 47 490 REMOVING AND INSTALLING / REPLACING FRONT UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
- Disconnect suction and pressure lines from power steering pump
Unfasten screws.
Tightening torque, see 32 41 6AZ in WHEEL & TIRES - TIGHTENING TORQUES .
Remove pressure line with bracket from power steering pump.
Installation:
Make sure pressure line is laid without tension and with sufficient spacing to adjoining components.
Version with active front steering: Disconnect connector (1).
Release screw (2).
Tightening torque, see 32 41 1AZ in WHEEL & TIRES - TIGHTENING TORQUES .
Release screws (1).
Tightening torque, see 32 41 1AZ in WHEEL & TIRES - TIGHTENING TORQUES .
Remove power steering pump (2) towards front.
