51 16 220 Replacing wooden finishers for storage tray (center console)

Remove center console:

Removing and installing fresh air grill in rear compartment, refer to 64 22 190 REMOVING AND INSTALLING / REPLACING FRESH - AIR GRILL IN REAR OF CAR

Unclip finisher (rear oddments tray) over rear (1) and front (2) apertures.

Remove screws (1... 2).

Disconnect plugs (3... 4). Unlock connector housing (5) (if necessary after removal of the center console) and remove.

NOTE: When dismantling the center console, do not damage the wooden finisher.

Lift center console (6) forwards and upwards to remove.

Unfasten screws and pull wooden finisher on oddments tray (center) forwards to remove.

Unfasten connector (1) (and wooden finisher) and pull connector holder (2) of complete wiring harness backwards.

Remove insert from center console (cassette box or storage tray):

Unfasten screws.

Installation:

Fit screws with toothed disc.

Unfasten screws and remove insert (1).

Replace wooden finisher (cassette box or storage tray):

Pull insert (1) forwards forcefully.

Unfasten screws at front.

Unfasten screws at back and close lid.

Push wooden finisher approx. 10 mm firmly down, slide out of guide and remove.

Installation:

If necessary, i.e. if gap is too large, glue the finisher in area (1).

Remove insert from center console (ashtray or coin box):

Unfasten screws and remove insert.

Replace wooden finisher (ashtray or coin box):

Take out ashtray or coin box insert. Unclip rear panel (1).

Disconnect plug.

Open ashtray and unfasten screws.

Slide wooden finisher approx. 30 mm upwards to remove from guide and lift out. Unfasten cable from lighting.

Installation:

Close ashtray and insert cable (1) in the bore.
