54 12 220 Replacing control rail for glass sliding/tilting sunroof, left or right: Notes

NOTE: When replacing a control rail, always check the second control rail for wear; if necessary, replace as a pair. If necessary, apply light coat of Renax GL1 (Fuchs) grease to guide duct.

Removing and installing bellows for glass sliding/tilting sunroof, left and right, see 54 12 015 REPLACING BELLOWS FOR GLASS SLIDING/TILTING SUNROOF, LEFT OR RIGHT

Removing and installing wind deflector, see 54 12 496 REMOVING AND INSTALLING / REPLACING WIND DEFLECTOR

Removing and installing water channel for glass sliding/tilting sunroof, see 54 12 138 REMOVING AND INSTALLING / REPLACING WATER CHANNEL FOR GLASS SLIDING/TILTING SUNROOF

Release screws and remove tube clamp (1).

NOTE: When replacing the right control rail, disassemble the left tube clamp as well.

Secure tube clamp (1) with screw (2).

Slide support (1) (for glass sunroof lid, front) forwards/inwards out of guide duct.

Slide support (1) for bellows forwards out of guide duct.

Only when the right control rail is replaced: Move mechanism completely towards rear.

Continue to move mechanism with emergency actuation towards rear until the left drive cable (1) comes completely forwards out of the guide duct.

Continue to move mechanism forwards and in so doing feed drive cable (1) out of left guide duct.

Move mechanism (1) towards rear until side guide (2) for control lever is free.

Removing and installing drive unit with transmission for sliding/tilting sunroof actuation, see 67 61 510 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING DRIVE WITH GEAR FOR ACTUATING SLIDE/TILT SUNROOF .

Release screw (1) and remove side guide (2) for control lever for setting up inwards.

Move control rail (1) forwards until pin (2) is in opening (3).

Gently raise support (1) for glass sunroof lid and slide control rail (2) forward until the guide (3) on setting lever (4) is in opening (5).

Turn support (1) for glass sunroof lid upwards until the guide (2) enters the opening (3).

Slide mechanism forwards until the pin (1) is positioned before the edge (2).

Lift linkage (1) out of slide (2) (support for water channel) and push slide (2) back approx. 5 mm.

Push setting lever (1) forwards. Slide control rail (2) forwards until the slide (3) emerges from the guide duct (4).

Raise slide (1) and slide back a little with control rail (2).

Push setting lever (1) towards rear up to end of control rail (2) and turn front of control rail (2) upwards.

Turn slide (1) and remove from control rail (2) towards top.

Slide control rail (1) back and remove from setting lever (2) and lock (3).

If necessary, press down lock (1) and remove control rail (2) completely from setting lever (3).

Release screw (2) on tube clamp (1).

Push setting lever (1) forwards and guide nipple (2) up to end of tube guide (4).

Lift out tube guide (4) upwards/downwards a little.
