51 44 011 Removing and installing/replacing headliner (with slide/tilt sunroof)

Removing and installing all grab handles, refer to 51 16 480 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING FRONT GRAB HANDLE .

Removing and installing both trims for roof pillar front (A-pillar) refer to 51 43 201 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING TRIM FOR FRONT LEFT OR RIGHT ROOF PILLAR .

Removing and installing both trims for door pillar (top) (B-pillar) refer to 51 43 148 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING TRIM ON LEFT OR RIGHT DOOR PILLAR (TOP) .

Removing and installing both trims for rear roof pillar (C-pillar) refer to 51 43 251 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING TRIM FROM REAR LEFT OR RIGHT ROOF PILLAR .

Removing and installing right front seat, refer to 52 13 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT SEAT (NORMAL / MANUAL) .

Removing and installing slide/tilt sunroof cover, refer to 54 12 100 REMOVING AND INSTALLING SUN ROOF LID and/or Removing and installing glass slide/tilt sunroof cover, refer to 54 12 115 REMOVING AND INSTALLING GLASS SLIDING/TILTING SUNROOF LID .

Lift out sun visor.

Lift out lamps (1) and remove connector.

Lift out finishers on counter support and joint and unfasten screws.

Pull lighting wire out slightly and disconnect connector.

Installation: 

Perform function check on lighting.

Unfasten screws and remove cover frame.

Only replace:

If necessary, replace nuts in headlining.

Lift out interior light and remove connector.

Lift out finisher and disconnect connector.

Adjust left back-rest as far back as it will go.

Version up to 5/97:

Lever out expansion rivet (1) on left/right.

Pull headlining upwards out of sheet metal tabs and pull towards right rear door to remove.

Version from 5/97:

Pull headlining upwards out of sheet metal tabs and pull towards right rear door to remove.

Installation: 

Insert special tool 51 4 000 in the support for headlining and secure with fabric adhesive tape (2).

Version with telephone connection unit:

If necessary, slide over telephone connection unit (1).

Installation: 

Press headlining (1) upwards against special tool 51 4 000. Press towards to limit position and secure.

Remove special tool 51 4 000 and clean rear window.

2. Seal.
3. Cement bead.
4. Rear window.
5. Switch box.
6. Antenna foot.
7. Transmitter.
8. Fabric adhesive tape.
