Top & Rear Cover Plates

  1. Remove transmission. Remove flywheel. See FLYWHEEL & RING GEAR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove left and right heat baffle plates on front axle support. Unfasten bolts and remove cover. See Fig 1 . Remove drain plug for coolant in left and right engine block. Drain coolant.
  2. To install, reverse removal procedure. Replace seals. Top up coolant. Vent cooling system and check for leaks. Clean sealing faces and replace gasket. Remove coolant connecting pipes. Unbolt bolts. Clean sealing faces and replace gasket. See Fig 2 . For tightening torque, see TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
