Breaking In
The following procedure is applicable in case of insufficient braking effect or after replacing brake discs and /or brake shoes. Quite often dirt and corrosion will cause the braking effect of the parking brake to give over time.
WARNING:
Parking brake must be adjusted as uniformly as possible. See PARKING BRAKE
under ADJUSTMENTS.
- Driving on a private road or very quiet road, and moving approximately 25 mph (40 kmph), pull up parking brake lever until braking of the car is noticed.
- Pull up one more tooth and drive approximately 1/2 mile (400 meters) in this position.
