Parking Brake

The parking brake can only be adjusted correctly if the parking brake cables and all moving parts of the parking brake move easily and function correctly.

1. Release parking brake and check cables for free operation.
2. From inside vehicle, lift off parking brake lever cover. See Fig 1 .
3. Unscrew the adjusting nuts and loosen the cable completely.
4. Unscrew and remove one wheel bolt from each rear wheel. Turn wheel until tapped bore is positioned at top.
5. Insert screwdriver into rotor inspection hole and turn adjusting screw until parking brake shoes stop rotation of rotor. See Fig 2 .
6. Back off adjusting screw 8 notches.
7. Tighten adjusting nuts on parking brake lever until parking brake holds vehicle securely before fifth ratchet stop is reached. Both rear wheels should rotate freely and evenly with parking lever released.
8. Replace lever cover.
9. Install and tighten wheel bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
