Brake Disc Pads: Installation

  1. Only install new brake pads if brake disc thickness is greater than or equal to minimum thickness. See DISC BRAKE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  2. Apply light coat of Plastilube or equivalent to brake piston contact points on baseplate of brake lining. Be careful not to get any on brake pad face.
  3. Press in piston firmly with tool 34 1 050. See Fig 1 .
  4. Clean brake pad guides on caliper and brake carrier with a brush.
  5. Install brake caliper. See BRAKE CALIPER  .
  6. When operation is complete, actuate brake pedal several times to enable the brake pads to bed down on the brake disc.
