Coolant Pipe On Heat Pump Valve Unit, Removing And Installing: Removing

Working with the ignition turned on or with the high-voltage system energized

-- Switch of the function "parking heater" (deactivate). Refer to the Owner's Manual.

-- Switch the ignition on.

-- Initiate the basic setting of the A/C system using the Thermal Management Control Module -J1024- and open the electric valves using the routine Refrigerant Circuit, Extract, Evacuate and Fill in the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the Guided Fault Finding function.

-- Switch off the ignition.

-- Drain the refrigerant circuit. Refer to Refrigerant Circuit (Refrigerant R134a Servicing, Refrigerant Circuit, Working with A/C Service Station) or Working with A/C Service Station .

-- Remove the front bumper cover end plate. Refer to OVERVIEW - BUMPER COVER .

-- Loosen the left bumper cover on the fender and push it outward. Refer to OVERVIEW - BUMPER COVER .

-- Drain the coolant. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING, HIGH-VOLTAGE COOLING CIRCUIT .

-- Remove the high-voltage system cooling circuit coolant expansion tank. Refer to OVERVIEW - COOLANT EXPANSION TANK .

-- Loosen the bolt -arrow- three turns, but do not remove it.

-- Free up the old lines and connectors on the bracket -A-.

CAUTION:

Danger or frostbite due to refrigerant coming out under pressure.

Frostbite on the skin and other parts of the body is possible.

- Wear safety gloves.

- Wear protective eyewear.

- Evacuate or drain refrigerant and open the refrigerant circuit immediately.

- If more than 10 minutes elapse after extracting or draining the refrigerant and the refrigerant circuit has not been opened, extract or drain the refrigerant again. Pressure develops in the refrigerant circuit due to evaporation.

-- Remove the bolt -B- and remove the refrigerant line -D-.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.

-- Remove the bolts -C- and remove the bracket -A- downward.

-- Remove the bolt -E- and free up the coolant lines -D-.

-- Remove the bolt -D- and free up the coolant lines to the auxiliary radiator.

CAUTION:

There is a risk of damaging the straps on the plastic coolant pipes if they are handled incorrectly.

- Counterhold at the coolant pipe when disconnecting and connecting the coolant hose.

-- Remove the coolant hoses to do so loosen the hose clamps -1 and 5- with the Hose Clip Pliers:VAS 6362 .

-- Remove the coolant pipe -3-.
