Inner Side Adhesive Bead, Cutting:
-- Using the tool -1-, slide the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A on the right side of the vehicle behind the inner adhesive bead between the roof and sunroof frame starting at the rear moving forward in direction of -arrow-.
-- Grab the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A behind the inner adhesive bead with the Hook :T40207 and remove forward between the roof and the sunroof frame in direction of -arrow-.
-- Route the inner end of the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A starting from the rear moving forward.
-- Engage the hook -1- from the Window Removal Set :VAS 861 001A on the roof frame.
-- Secure the inner end of the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A to the hook.
-- Secure the removal device -1- with the reel device on the inside of the windshield.
-- Slide the outer end of the cutting cord in the reel device on the removal device.
Risk of eye injury due to flying shavings.
Eye irritation and injury is possible.
- Wear protective eyewear.
-- Tension the cutting cord with the reel device.
-- Cut through the inner side adhesive bead.
-- Remove the hook -2-.
-- Repeat the procedure on the other side of the vehicle.
Front Inner Adhesive Bead, Cutting:
-- Using the tool -1-, slide the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A on the right side of the vehicle behind the inner adhesive bead between the roof and sunroof frame in direction of -arrow-.
There is a risk of damaging the wires with the cutting cord.
- Guide the cutting cord behind the wires.
-- Grab the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A behind the inner adhesive bead with the Hook :T40207 and remove between the roof and the sunroof frame on the left side of the vehicle in direction of -arrow-.
-- Engage the inner end of the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A with the hook -2- from the Window Removal Set :VAS 861 001A on the right roof frame.
-- Redirect the outer end of the cutting cord through the Hook :10-222A/20 -3- and guide forward.
-- Secure the removal device -1- with the reel device on the inside of the windshield.
-- Slide the outer end of the cutting cord in the reel device on the windshield.
-- Tension the cutting cord with the reel device.
-- Cut through the front inner adhesive bead.
-- Remove the hook -2 and 3-.
Rear Inner Adhesive Bead, Cutting:
-- Remove the left and right bolts -arrows- for the sliding and tilting mechanism.
-- Lift up the sliding and tilting mechanism slightly on the right side at the rear edge in direction of -arrow-.
-- Guide the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A around the right link plate, under which the rear adhesive bead is located.
-- Engage the hook -1- from the Window Removal Set :VAS 861 001A on the roof frame.
-- Secure the inner end of the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A to the hook.
-- Secure the removal device -1- with the reel device on the inside of the windshield.
-- Slide the outer end of the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A into the reel device on the cutting device.
-- Tension the cutting cord with the reel device.
-- Cut through the rear inner adhesive bead.
-- Remove the hook -2-.
-- Repeat the procedure on the other side of the vehicle.
Outer Adhesive Bead, Cutting:
-- Protect the cutting area where the awl -1- from the Window Removal Set :VAS 861 001A is used on the roof frame over the windshield with adhesive tape.
-- At the front of the opening for the Sunroof Shade Motor -V260-, guide the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A with the awl -1- in the gap between the roof frame and the sunroof frame -arrow-.
-- Pull through one end of the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A with the Hook :T40207 outward.
There is a risk of damaging the wires with the cutting cord.
- Guide the cutting cord in front of the wires.
-- Pull the inner end of the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A toward the right side of the vehicle and guide out at the right opening.
-- Engage the hook -1- from the Window Removal Set :VAS 861 001A on the bracket for the right front roof grab handle.
-- Secure the cutting cord on the hook.
-- Secure the removal device with the reel device -2- on the outer right side of the windshield.
-- Tension the cutting cord with the reel device.
-- Cut through the front right adhesive bead.
-- Remove the hook -1-.
-- Guide the inner Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A toward the rear and pull out of the hole in the roof frame with the Hook Tool :T40207 .
-- Engage the hook -1- from the Window Removal Set :VAS 861 001A in the hole in the roof frame.
-- Secure the inner end of the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A to the hook.
-- Secure the removal device with the reel device -1- on the outer right side of the rear window.
-- Place the cutting guard -2- from the Window Removal Set :VAS 861 001A underneath to protect the paint.
-- Tension the cutting cord with the reel device.
-- Cut the outer adhesive bead on the right side.
-- Remove the hook -3-.
-- Guide the inner Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A under the right link plate -arrow- and toward the left side of the vehicle.
-- Remove the inner Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A out of the hole in the roof frame on the left side of the vehicle with the Hook Tool :T40207 .
-- Engage the hook -1- from the Window Removal Set :VAS 861 001A in the hole in the roof frame on the left side.
-- Secure the inner end of the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A to the hook.
-- Secure the removal device with the reel device -3- on the outer left side of the rear side window.
-- Place the cutting guard -2- from the Window Removal Set :VAS 861 001A underneath to protect the paint.
-- Tension the cutting cord with the reel device.
-- Cut the rear adhesive bead.
-- Remove the hook -1-.
-- Lift up the sliding and tilting mechanism slightly on the left side of the rear edge in direction of -arrow-.
-- Guide the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A through under the left link plate -arrow- and guide forward.
-- Pull the inner end of the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A through and forward.
-- Engage the hook -1- from the Window Removal Set :VAS 861 001A on the sunroof frame.
-- Secure the inner end of the cutting cord on the hook.
-- Secure the removal device using the reel device -1- on the outer left side of the windshield.
-- Place the cutting guard -2- from the Window Removal Set :VAS 861 001A underneath to protect the paint and the windshield.
-- Tension the cutting cord with the reel device.
-- Cut the left adhesive bead.
-- Remove the hook -3-.
There is a risk of damaging the wires with the cutting cord.
- Guide the cutting cord in front of the wires.
-- Pull the inner end of the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A through toward the right side of the vehicle.
-- Engage the hook -1- from the Window Removal Set :VAS 861 001A on the roof frame.
-- Secure the inner end of the cutting cord on the hook.
-- Secure the removal device using the reel device -1- on the outer right side of the windshield.
-- Tension the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A with the reel device.
-- Cut the outer left adhesive bead.
-- Remove the hook -2-.
-- Remove the windshield frame with a second technician.
Installing
-- Prepare sunroof frames that is not damaged for installation (refer to SUNROOF FRAME WITHOUT DAMAGE, PREPARING FOR INSTALLATION ) or prepare the new sunroof frame for installation. Refer to NEW SUNROOF FRAME, PREPARING FOR INSTALLATION .
-- Prepare the body flange for installation. Refer to BODY FLANGE, PREPARING FOR INSTALLATION .
-- Apply the adhesive. Refer to OVERVIEW - ADHESIVE BEADS ON SLIDING SUNROOF FRAME, A6 SEDAN .
-- Insert the sunroof frame into the roof opening.
- The sealing lip on the cover profile -3- of the windshield -1- must contact the glass trim -2- and must point upward -arrow-. For this, attach the sealing lip with adhesive tape to the windshield or place a used cutting wire behind it.
-- Align the front sunroof frame.
- The glass trim must be centered between the roof pillars.
- Check or correct installation dimensions. Refer to GLASS PANEL, ADJUSTING .
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Observe minimum curing times. Refer to MINIMUM CURING TIME FOR BONDED SLIDING SUNROOF .
-- Perform an adaptation. Refer to Sunroof Motor -V1-, PROGRAMMING .
