Power Steering With SERVOTRONIC, From 07.93
With Servotronic, the degree of power assist for the steering is controlled electronically according to the vehicle speed. If there is a malfunction in the Servotronic system, the power steering system will continue to operate.
A malfunction in the system may be noticed when maneuvering the vehicle (for example, in a parking space), and greater steering force than usual has to be used.
If the steering requires greater effort on one side only (e.g., light when turning right and heavy when turning left), there is a hydraulic malfunction. Replace the steering gear to eliminate the problem.
Work place and individual parts must always be kept clean.
Power steering operates with power steering fluid, Part No. G 002 000
Before installing, moisten O-rings and seals with power steering fluid.
Do not attempt to weld or straighten steering components.
The Servotronic system has been modified for vehicles built from 07.93:
