Input Shaft Seal, Replacing: Installing

-- Before installing, lightly coat the new seal on the outer diameter and between the sealing lips with all-wheel drive clutch oil.

-- Drive in the new seal all the way using the Seal Installer - Shaft Seal Ring:T10019 . Do not tilt the seal while doing so.

-- Install the flange/driveshaft -A- using Press Piece - 37mm:VW 416 B .

-- Install and tighten new nuts using Locking Compound:D 000 600 .

A - M10 x 20 Bolt

B - M8 x 15 Hex Socket Bolt (installed in the Counterhold - Crankshaft Sprocket:3415 from the rear)

-- Attach the driveshaft to the rear final drive. Refer to DRIVESHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Align the intermediate bearing in the oblong holes so that neither the driveshaft nor the intermediate bearing are under stress.

-- Install the exhaust system and align it without tension. Refer to OVERVIEW - MUFFLER .

-- Check the oil level in the all-wheel drive clutch. Refer to OIL LEVEL, CHECKING .
