Front Backrest, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Remove the front seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Secure the front seat to the Engine/Transmission Holder - Seat Repair Fixture :VAS6136 . Refer to FRONT SEAT, MOUNTING ON FIXTURE FOR SEAT REPAIR .

-- Remove the seat frame trim panel on the tunnel-side. Refer to SEAT FRAME TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, TUNNEL-SIDE .

-- Remove the seat frame trim panel on the side sill side and remove the bracket. Refer to SEAT FRAME TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, SIDE SILL SIDE .

-- If equipped, remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the child seat anchor -1- from the front seat.

-- Disconnect the wiring harness connectors for the backrest and free up the disconnected wiring harnesses. Refer to WIRE ROUTING, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

TIP:

The wiring harness in between the connector station and the thorax airbag and center airbag in the A3 is continuous.

-- A3 version: disconnect the pneumatic line -2- from the compressor -1- by pressing the release ring in direction of -arrows-.

-- Free up the pneumatic line.

-- Remove the left and right bolts -1 and 3- from the backrest hinge.

-- Loosen the backrest from the seat and remove it while guiding out the wiring harnesses.
