Outer Rear/Right/Front/Left Adhesive Beads and Inner Side/Rear Side Adhesive Beads, Cutting
-- Remove the washer fluid hose coupling piece -arrow- from the mount.
-- Protect the cutting area where the rear piercing awl is used on the roof frame using the cutting guard -2- from the Window Removal Set :VAS 861 001A .
-- To have a better view of the area, pull the seal -3- with the adhesive tape -1- forward in direction of -arrow-.
-- Guide the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A with the piercing awl -1- through the opening in the roof frame and into the gap between the roof frame and sunroof frame in direction of -arrow-.
-- Pull through one end of the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A with the Hook Tool :T40207 outward in direction of -arrow-.
-- Engage the hook -1- from the Window Removal Set :VAS 861 001A on the right side of the roof frame.
-- Secure the inner end of the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A to the hook.
- Guide the cutting cord behind the nut -arrow- while doing so.
-- Secure the removal device -1- with the reel device on the rear glass panel on the outer right side.
-- Tension the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A with the reel device.
-- Cut the rear adhesive bead.
-- Remove the hook -2-.
-- Guide the inner and outer end of the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A forward.
- Guide the cutting cord in front of the nut -arrow- while doing so.
-- Engage the hook -1- from the Window Removal Set :VAS 861 001A on the right front side of the roof frame.
-- Secure the inner end of the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A to the hook.
-- Secure the removal device -2- with the reel device on the right outer side of the windshield.
-- To protect the windshield, place the Wedge Set :T10383/1 underneath.
-- Tension the cutting cord with the reel device.
-- Cut through the right adhesive beads.
-- Remove the hook -1-.
-- Insert the tool -1- on the front right side between the roof and the sunroof frame.
-- Slide the inner end of the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A to the left using the tool in direction of -arrow-.
There is a risk of damaging the wires with the cutting cord.
- Guide the cutting cord in front of the wires.
-- Pull the inner end of the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A through toward the left side of the vehicle and guide it out at the left opening.
-- Engage the hook -1- from the Window Removal Set :VAS 861 001A on the bracket for the left front roof grab handle.
-- Secure the cutting cord on the hook.
-- Secure the removal device with the reel device -2- on the outer left side of the windshield.
-- Tension the cutting cord with the reel device.
-- Cut through the front adhesive bead.
-- Remove the hook -1-.
-- Place the Cutting Cord :VAS 861 001/1A around the left adhesive beads and guide it out toward the front by lifting the sunroof frame slightly on the right side.
-- Secure the removal tool with the reel device -1- and Double Suction Lifter :V.A.G 1344 on the upper left side of the windshield.
-- Secure the inner end of the cutting cord on the Double Suction Lifter :V.A.G 1344 and secure the outer end on the cutting device.
-- Tension the cutting cord with the reel device.
-- Cut through the right adhesive beads.
-- Remove the sunroof frame.
Installing
-- Prepare sunroof frames that is not damaged for installation (refer to SUNROOF FRAME WITHOUT DAMAGE, PREPARING FOR INSTALLATION ) or prepare the new sunroof frame for installation. Refer to NEW SUNROOF FRAME, PREPARING FOR INSTALLATION .
-- Prepare the body flange for installation. Refer to BODY FLANGE, PREPARING FOR INSTALLATION .
-- Apply the adhesive. Refer to OVERVIEW - ADHESIVE BEADS ON SLIDING SUNROOF FRAME, A6 AVANT .
-- Insert the sunroof frame into the roof opening.
- The sealing lip on the cover profile -3- of the windshield -1- must contact the glass trim -2- and must point upward -arrow-. For this, attach the sealing lip with adhesive tape to the windshield or place a used cutting wire behind it.
-- Align the front sunroof frame.
- The sunroof frame must rest centrally between the roof pillars.
- Check or correct installation dimensions. Refer to GLASS PANEL, ADJUSTING .
- Adhesive for side trim. Refer to REQUIRED TOOLS AND MATERIALS FOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION => .
-- Insert the side trim.
- The glass trim must rest centrally between the roof pillar and the glass panel.
- Check or correct installation dimensions. Refer to GLASS PANEL, ADJUSTING .
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Observe minimum curing times. Refer to MINIMUM CURING TIME FOR BONDED SLIDING SUNROOF .
-- Perform an adaptation. Refer to Sunroof Motor -V1-, PROGRAMMING .
-- Install the side trim. Refer to SIDE TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, A6 AVANT .
