Rear Seat Backrest, Removing And Installing, Folding Backrest: Removing
-- Move the front seats all the way forward.
-- Remove the rear bench seat. Refer to REAR BENCH SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Right folding backrest on 2+1 seats: remove the rear belt end fitting in the center. Refer to OVERVIEW - CENTER REAR THREE-POINT SEAT BELT .
Vehicles with Remote Backrest Release:
Improper handling increases the risk of destroying the backrest remote release.
The idler pulley could fall out.
- When removing and installing the release cable, do not under any circumstances remove the idler roller from the coupling housing.
-- Open the cover and disengage the release cable support bracket -3- from the mount on the coupling housing -arrow-.
-- Disengage the release cable nipple -2- from the idler roller -1- and close the cover again.
Continuation:
-- Fold the rear seat backrests forward.
-- Remove the bolt -1-.
-- Tilt the securing bracket -2- forward and disengage downward from the center bearing -arrow- at the same time.
-- Raise the rear seat backrest slightly.
-- At the same time pry out the inner rear seat backrest -1- from the center support -arrow A-.
-- Remove the rear seat backrest from the outer bearing toward the center of the vehicle -arrow B-.
-- Remove the backrest.
