Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor -G62-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Engine Bung Set:VAS 6122  for vehicle with secondary air system

Procedure 

• The engine is cold.

-- Briefly open the coolant expansion tank cap -arrow- and release any residual pressure in the cooling system and then close it again until it locks.

-- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Vehicles with Secondary Air System:

-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .

-- Open the clip -3- and free up the secondary air injection pressure line.

-- Free up the wire -2-.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.

-- Loosen the hose clamp -4-, remove the air duct pipe and press it to the side.

-- Seal the open lines and connections with clean plugs from the Engine Bung Set:VAS 6122  .

-- Disconnect the connector -1-.

-- Press the release buttons on both sides -arrow- and remove the secondary air injection pressure line -2-.

-- Disconnect the connector -1-.

-- Place a cloth underneath to catch leaking coolant.

-- Remove the bolts -2- and remove the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor -G62- -item 3-.

• Allocation of the O-ring/centering ring. Refer to Figure.

-- Insert the new engine coolant temperature sensor immediately so that as little coolant is lost as possible.

-- Install the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Check the coolant level. Refer to COOLANT LEVEL, CHECKING AND FILLING .
