Brake Booster, Removing And Installing, LHD Vehicles: Installing

Install in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:

Replace the seal between the brake booster and bulkhead.
The new seal is not bonded.

-- Remove any bonded joint -arrows- residue from the brake booster -2- and the bulkhead -1-.

-- Using a hot air gun, warm the adhesive residue at a low setting and remove it.

-- Clean the surfaces thoroughly.

-- Attach the brake pedal to the brake booster. Refer to BRAKE PEDAL, ATTACHING TO BRAKE BOOSTER .

-- Install the brake master cylinder. Refer to BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- After removing and installing the same brake booster, select the "Brake booster basic setting" program. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC ENTRIES .

-- Follow the instructions in the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester display.

-- Complete the "Control Module, Replacing" program after replacing the brake booster. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

CAUTION:

Faulty brakes increase the risk of an accident.

- Make sure the brakes are working correctly before driving the vehicle for the first time.

- Check the brake lamp function.
