Overview - Suspension Strut And Upper Control Arm

If the components of the front axle (axle components and/or wheel rim) are replaced if damaged, the tightening specifications on the following threaded connections must be checked, when these threaded connections are not replaced during the repair procedure.

• Test torque 100 Nm for suspension strut clamping screw -item 3-  OVERVIEW - SUSPENSION STRUT AND UPPER CONTROL ARM => List Item:Bolt and nut -item 5-  OVERVIEW - SUSPENSION STRUT AND UPPER CONTROL ARM => List Item:Nut.

Until the testing torque is reached in the tightening direction turning of the connection is not permitted.

1. Spring Support
   • Note the installation position
2. Shock Absorber with Lower Spring Plate
   • Allocation. Refer to the => Electronic Parts Information (ETKA).
   • Removing and Installing. Refer to SUSPENSION STRUT, SERVICING .
   • If the shock absorber is replaced due to damage, the complete tie rod must also be replaced on this side of the vehicle
   • Because of different shock absorber valve systems, only install new shock absorbers from the same manufacturer on both axles, if possible.
   • After replacing one or both shock absorbers on a vehicle with electronic damping, perform the basic setting of the electronic damping function. Refer to ELECTRONIC DAMPING BASIC SETTING .
3. Bolt
   • 70 Nm + 180°
   • Replace after removing
4. Wheel Bearing Housing
   • Overview. Refer to OVERVIEW - WHEEL BEARING .
5. Nut
   • Replace after removing
6. Protective Cover
7. Coil Spring
   • Allocation. Refer to the => Electronic Parts Information (ETKA).
   • Surface of spring coil may not be damaged
   • Removing and Installing. Refer to SUSPENSION STRUT, SERVICING .
8. Deep-Groove Ball Bearing
9. Stop Buffer
   • Allocation. Refer to the => Electronic Parts Information (ETKA).
10. Strut Mount
    • Note the installation position, one of the two marks >>arrows<< on the spring plate must point in the direction of travel. Refer to Installing .
11. Nut
    • 60 Nm
    • Replace after removing
12. Suspension Strut Tower
13. Bolt
    • 20 Nm +90°
    • Replace after removing
