1. Bolt
   • Replace after removing
   • Loosening and tightening. Refer to DRIVE AXLE THREADED CONNECTION, LOOSENING AND TIGHTENING 
   • Clean the threads in the CV joint with a thread tap before installing.
2. Outer CV Joint
   • Only replace completely
   • Removing. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING, OUTER CV JOINT, ALL .
   • Installing. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING, OUTER CV JOINT, ALL .
   • Check using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester Refer to OUTER CV JOINT, CHECKING .
3. Circlip
   • Replace after removing
   • Insert in shaft groove
4. Clamp
   • Replace after removing
   • Tensioning. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING, TENSIONING LOCK WASHER .
5. Outer CV Joint CV Boot
   • Check for tears and scuffing
6. Clamp
   • Replace after removing
   • Tensioning. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING, TENSIONING LOCK WASHER .
7. Drive Axle
8. Clamp
   • Replace after removing
   • Tensioning. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING, TENSIONING LOCK WASHER .
9. Inner CV Joint CV Boot
   • Without vent hole
   • Check for tears and scuffing
   • Before assembling the CV joint coat the sealing surface using Grease. Refer to the => Electronic Parts Information (ETKA) for the allocation.
10. Clamp
    • Replace after removing
    • Tensioning. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING, TENSIONING LOCK WASHER .
11. Backing Plate
12. Cap
    • Removing. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING, INNER CV JOINT WITH COVER .
13. Inner CV Joint
    • Only replace completely
    • Removing. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING, INNER CV JOINT WITH COVER .
    • Installing. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING, INNER CV JOINT WITH COVER .
    • Check using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester. Refer to INNER CV JOINT, CHECKING .
    • When installing the joint on the axle shaft, the splines on the axle shaft must be lightly coated with the grease used in the joint.
14. Circlip
    • Replace after removing
    • Removing and installing with Circlip Pliers:VW161A 
15. Cap
    • Replace after removing
    • Removing. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING, INNER CV JOINT WITH COVER .
    • Installing. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING, INNER CV JOINT WITH COVER .
    • Adhesive surface must be free of oil and grease
16. Bolt
    • Tightening Specifications
      • Pre-tightening: 10 Nm diagonally
      • Final tightening specification 70 Nm diagonally
    • Replace after removing

Grease Quantity and Type

• Grease joint again when replacing CV boot.
• Pay attention to the grease type for the outer and inner joint. Refer to the => Electronic Parts Information (ETKA).
