ATF Cooler, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the Transmission Control Module -J217- empty the ATF pressure reservoir and disable the Transmission Fluid Auxiliary Hydraulic Pump -V552-. Refer to ATF PUMP, DEACTIVATING AND DRAINING THE HYDRAULIC PUMP RESERVOIR .

-- Drain the ATF. Refer to ATF, DRAINING AND FILLING .

-- Vehicles with 6-cylinder TFSI engine: detach the lower coolant pipe on the transmission and push to the side. Refer to COOLANT PIPES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

NOTE:

To catch escaping coolant, place a cloth underneath.

-- Loosen the hose clamps -1 and 2- and then disconnect and remove the coolant hoses with :3094  . (different versions)

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the heat shield -1-.

-- Place the :SMN372500  underneath.

-- Remove the bolts -1, 2 and 3- and the bracket.

-- Remove the ATF cooler -2- from the ATF pipe -1-.

-- Seal the open lines and connections with clean plugs from the :VAS6122  .

-- Remove the ATF pipe.
